Project Overview

Icebar London | Passion Project

Icebar London was a distinctive venue in central London, a frozen bar kept below zero, where cocktails were served in hand-carved ice glasses. This project began as a passion piece, inspired by over three years working there, and serves as a personal tribute to that chapter of my life.

The aim was to reflect the essence of Icebar London without resorting to clichéd “winter wonderland” imagery, instead building a minimalist and bold identity that is sharp, confident, and timeless.

Leaving behind snowflakes and frosted lettering, the new look was conceived as a relaunch for a modern London icon, ready for digital platforms, signage, and editorial use. The result is a visual identity that captures the venue’s spirit, elevating it beyond just a novelty bar experience.

The Creative Process

Bringing sophistication to an experiential venue

The design draws inspiration from Arctic ice and its natural geometry. The logotype is solid and carefully designed to integrate an iceberg silhouette within the letter A, serving both as a focal point within the wordmark and as a standalone submark for smaller applications.

The letterforms are deliberately bold and architectural, creating a strong sense of structure and visual weight, and the layout emphasises balance and precision, allowing each element to breathe whilst maintaining cohesion.

The result is a bold yet contemporary identity that captures the venue’s distinctive character without falling back on predictable icy clichés. It conveys sophistication and originality, positioning Icebar London as a modern destination with a timeless visual presence.

Typography & Colour Palette

Elegantly contrasted typefaces paired with cold & warm tones

The typography features Gontoq Regular, a bold display typeface that brings crisp, open letterforms, and Ostrich Sans, a sleek, ultra-slim sans-serif. The colour palette represents the natural contrasts of polar landscapes: deep teal tones paired with warm aurora hues.

Together, the typography and colour palette create a refined visual language that mirrors the venue’s positioning as a unique London destination, capturing both the sharpness of ice and the intensity of an unforgettable experience.
